The Seeds of The Gnogarian Empire

The Gnogers were a grumpy lot. While various clans were spread out here and there throughout Gnomomia, they infested the hills of Ceryndyl. Travelers through this region tended to go in larger numbers for protection. Yet even so, many still lost their hats and other valuable possessions to these marauders.

The company of the Mighty Mushroom tried reducing their numbers. And for a time, they were successful. But alas, those that fought under this banner were eventually defeated. After which, it seemed that the Gnogers repopulated the area in record time and in record numbers. What made matters worse is that they no longer waited for victims to come to them. Rather, they started ransacking the villages that were only a hop, skip and jump away. Some believe this was in part due to retaliation for supporting their destruction. Others believe it might have been due in part to the Gnogers' need to expand their territory and gain more resources for their growing hordes.

After the fall of the port city of Gnovaloma, the Gnogers began settling down a bit. Some say a mysterious force began to keep them at bay. However, they were able to master the use of various sea vessels, which enabled them to bring in Gnucklehead Gnourami. These goliathains of the sea were apparently no match for the Gnogers fierce tenacity. Additionally, the bones of the Gnucklehead Gnourami were superior to other ship building materials. Artisans even delved into carving the bones into various trinkets, figurines, musical instruments and large statues. These things were all the rage throughout Gnomomia.

Eventually, Gnovaloma became the capital city for the Gnogarian Empire. Trade was established with others. But, it was always said that it was best to allow the Gnogers to have a more favorable hand when engaged in commerce. Additionally, the Gnogers were never truly peaceful to their neighbors which created endless tensions and occasional wars. Yet amazingly enough, they did develop a written hieroglyphic language, which allowed them to communicate with each other as well as other Gnoger clans. Although it looked like simple hieroglyphics, we have only just begun to decipher it…

Now that’s Gnomazing!
